Offering dance music classics like they’ve never been heard before, Leeds based house music pioneers Back to Basics collaborate with Opera North’s 50 piece orchestra to create classical arrangements of an extensive list of memorable tracks. The Back to Basics collective hold the title of the UK’s longest running underground club promoters. Led by powerhouse producer and dance music legend Dave Beer, their list of residents reads like a who’s who of club music dons. James Holroyd, Buckley, Tristan Da Cunha and Ralph Lawson are only a few of the huge names who put Back to Basics on the club classics map, and they’re also on the list of special guests at this Leeds showcase.

Taking place in Leeds Millenium Square, the grand, open air location offers a sound incomparable to any venue. The artists responsible for the reimagined and reworked chart-toppers will join what promises to be a spectacular event, and includes the likes of Basement Jaxx’s original vocalists Sharlene Hector and Varlene Malinga, Republica vocalist Saffron and Groove Armada’s MC M.A.D. This is the first collaboration of the club and classical musicians, as the the polar opposite genres come together to celebrate Leeds’ rich and diverse musical history.

The Symphonic Sound Back to Basics comes to Millennium Square in Leeds City Centre on Friday, 28th July. Tickets are now on sale.
