Indie trio The xx are to curate a film series next month, presenting a series of films to the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. Aiming to explore issues of identity, gender and youth culture as well as performance and LGBTIQ issues, the films will mirror the themes present in the band’s latest album I See You, which also lends its name to the programme.
The film programme was led primarily by vocalist and bassist Oliver Sim, who says that they will “touch on so many of the issues, narratives and passions that are so important to the band as a whole”. Included in the programme are a portrait of disco revolutionary Arthur Russell, a double bill of films focusing on gender issues in Japan, Wu Tsang’s Wildness and several other fascinating documentaries.

Once they’re done with the film exhibition, you can catch The xx when they’re back in the UK for Parklife Festival, which takes place in Manchester on Saturday 9th June at Heaton Park.
