Bristolian party institution Just Jack turns 12 years old in February, and as it prepares for those early teen years of punk rock angst, mood swings and learning about feelings, it makes sense to celebrate the occasion with one more night of childish glee at their beloved home, Motion. Taking to the huge warehouse on Saturday 3rd February, the Just Jack crew will set their party hats off centre and strap on a smile as they enjoy the company of a knock-you-sideways cast including Theo Parrish, Nicolas Lutz, Sonja Moonear and more.
The years have been kind to Just Jack, who’ve welcomed some of the biggest names in dance music into their favourite party spots year upon year yet still managed to stay fresh like the newest kid on the block. Huge lineups are more common than not in the Just Jack listings, but with Detroit genius Theo Parrish orchestrating a soul, jazz, house and techno journey there won’t be too many that have been more exciting prospects. A marquee signing by himself, Parrish will be joined by two of the underground’s deepest diggers in Sonja Moonear and Nicolas Lutz. Both talented in uncovering the obscurest of treasures, the two DJs are both technically sublime and relentlessly unpredictable, twisting and turning like Lutz’ compatriot Luis Suarez, but with extra bite.
Ask for another selector of similar quality and you’re being cheeky, two and you’re being outright greedy, but with Specter, Call Super, DJ Sports and Bez’s Acid Toilet all thrown in for good measure, Just Jack don’t need to be asked. A generous lineup for a real humdinger of a party, there’s no doubt that Just Jack are in no mood for a subdued birthday.
