The end of April will see a noteworthy change in the Leeds clubbing scene, as the legendary SubDub night moves from its iconic home at The West Indian Centre to throw three events at Freedom Mills. Featuring a Hessle Audio 10th anniversary party, a Deep Medi takeover and an Outlook Festival launch party, the three day run from Friday 28th April will celebrate 19 years of reggae, dancehall, jungle and dub at the Leeds institution.
Having started up in the basements of Leeds’ Hessle Avenue a decade ago, Ben UFO, Pearson Sound and Pangaea will be returning to a former home as they take Bruce and Beneath to West Yorkshire for the all-night spectacle. Making good use of the floor shaking Iration Steppas System, the Hessle Audio clan will be making Friday 28th April a memorable start to the three days of bass-fuelled antics, and you can expect them to return to their jungle and dubstep roots as they turn back the clocks on a journey that has seen them become one of underground dance music’s most respected imprints.
With the aftershock vibrations of Hessle’s night hardly having settled, Saturday will see Deep Medi continue where they left off, with Mala, Kaiju, Compa and more joining the party. Also featuring Truth, Jack Sparrow and Goth-Trad, the night will be hosted by Sgt Pokes, Crazy D and Selah.
Closing up the long weekend, Channel One Sound System and Iration Steppas Sound System will mark the return of the summer festival season a little early, with an Outlook Festival launch party to satisfy the needs of any dub addicts whose thirst has not been quenched when Sunday evening comes around.
