Manchester will bear witness to a landmark event on Friday 27th April, with Ultimate Boxxer offering one of the spectacles of the year at Manchester Arena. The Welterweight battle between eight ambitious fighters from around the UK will bring together prime boxing and cutting edge music, with Ricky Hatton and BBC grime aficionado Charlie Sloth among the big names involved in its production.
Ultimate Boxxer will follow the format of Barry Hearn’s 2008 ‘Prizefighter’ night, with three rounds of three minutes to each match, meaning there will be some really heated battles as the boxers vye for the illustrious title. Competing in front of pundits Ricky Hatton, Paulie Malignaggi and Anthony Crolla, along with a huge audience both in the arena and on TV, the eight boxers will be given a chance to take their careers to the next level and compete for a life-changing sum of money. Sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control, the fast paced format will heighten entertainment, raising the stakes in a ruthless elimination tournament. Providing a “golden opportunity for unbeaten fighters to test themselves on the big stage regardless of background, trainer or promotional contract”, according to Paulie Malignaggi, the competition will aim to shake up the boxing industry and transform the entire experience of the viewer. Chic entertainment from the likes of music host Charlie Sloth and presenters Rickie Williams and Michelle Phelps will also ensure that it’s an exhilarating watch from start to finish.
