Westfest 2017 will play host to a vast lineup of artists on Saturday 28th October, with Hazard, SASASAS, DJ Hype and a shedload more heading to the Royal Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet. The special Halloween event, which is the UK’s biggest indoor electronic music festival, will be a pilgrimage site for bass heads from near and far as it brings the best in DnB, jungle, garage, hardcore and grime to Somerset.
Even with headline acts on the main stage and the Banjax house stage still to be announced, the lineup is already an enviable one, with standout bookings including a seven-deck set from Mamp Swift b2b Crissy Criss and a hardcore collaboration billed as ‘Rise of the Old Skool Soldiers’, featuring Slipmatt, Vibes, Force, Charlie B and Live Lee. Further names from the now rarely seen world of hardcore include Fracus & Darwin, Dougal and Mark Breeze, who will all bring a healthy helping of hardcore energy to the festival. The UK garage stage, hosted by Garage Nation, offers another taste of the good old days thanks to Artful Dodger, Oxide & Neutrino, Wideboys and Matt Jam Lamont.
Drum and bass is well represented, with a One Nation stage in addition to the likes of Hazard, Hype and more appearing on the main stage. DJ Luck and MC Neat bring the UKG to the same stage, with The Ratpack, Evil B vs B-Live and Gammer & Whizzkid also appearing. Offering further bass with a touch of bassline and grime, The Blast & Bodynot will bring My Nu Leng, D Double E, DJ Q and Zinc to their tent, with other big names including Holy Goof, Jamie Duggan and Barely Legal. For anyone who finds even that a little subdued, Alex Kidd, Caine and Cally will lead a full stage of hardstyle and gabba, meaning lack of intensity is certainly not going to be a complaint heard at Westfest this year.
