In the centre of Leeds, there are only very few outdoor venues, let alone those that match the visual treats given by Millennium Square, a large expanse of space and surrounding architecture, which is located right in front of the Civic Hall.
Used mainly for restaurant and bar seating during the summer months, Millennium Square is flooded with sun light during the peak hours of the day, with the many bars and restaurants that are dotted around the square being full to the brim on days that crack the flags. The Carriageworks Theatre and The City Of Leeds Museum are just two of the establishments that border Millennium Square, with The O2 Academy and The Civic Hall offering two more beautiful listed buildings that add to the picturesque views all over the square.
This summer, there are a selection of artists playing on the square that will hopefully result in long sun kissed summer days filled with music and dancing for all ages to enjoy.
The first of those that will be performing throughout July will be 10cc, the Stockport born rock band who are most widely known for hits like I’m Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday and The Things We Do For Love. Added to this, just the day after, there will be a highly anticipated appearance from Ali Campbell, Micky Virtue and Astro of UB40. Björn Again, the ABBA tribute will be performing on the next consecutive day whilst young stars Union J will be coming over the week after with a string of guests.
