Leeds’ HighRise will come tearing back on Friday 20th January, offering weary students a chance of revitalisation as the exam season closes and party season begins. Bringing together a punch-packing lineup of artists from across the UK bass music spectrum, HighRise will invite the Levelz collective, Kahn b2b Commodo, and Wookie to top the bill at Beaver Works.
HighRise is by now established as one of the city’s most successful student nights, with the various rooms of the enormous venue regularly filled by the mountainous bass sounds that the promoters have made their specialty. Offering grime from the likes of Sir Spyro & Killa P, drum and bass from Skeptical & Strategy, garage from Matt Jam Lamont and the dub of Aba Shanti-I, the January show appears to have all bases covered as they take on each and every face of bottom-heavy dance music. Also featuring Bryan Gee, Gorgon Sound, Champion and more, the night’s lineup will have something to please each and every one of the usual HighRise contingent.
Running 11pm to 5am, the party will offer plenty of time for dancing off those exam period cobwebs, and if recent history is anything to go by it’ll not take long for HighRise to reassert itself as the go-to party among Leeds’ student population. This one will be quite the departure from the late-night library sessions that have haunted many a mid-winter evening.
