New Year’s Eve is a time to spend with friends and family, so how fitting that the end of 2016 will see a special reunion in Leeds. Formerly one of the biggest regular house nights in the city, Louche started off as a one-off party for Oxfam at MiNT Club, snowballing to become a fond favourite of Leeds’ party community before branching out into London and Berlin and handing over the reins to best pals Butter Side Up, who have made a similarly deep impression ever since. With Louche returning to their old stomping ground for an end of year bash in BSU’s much-loved home in the Wire basement, cutting-edge music and a highly spirited atmosphere are guaranteed.
Parties as popular as these come with a stamp of quality earned over hundreds of otherworldly parties, and so we shouldn’t be surprised that they’re feeling no pressure to unveil the special guest headliner, having both cemented a huge group of loyalists with full faith in their consistently fantastic bookings. With Josh Tweek, Hamish Cole and Jonny Sleight manning the DJ booth as resident selectors, the special guest will be given the perfect introduction to the Leeds crowd, with both Louche and Butter Side Up specialising in ocean-deep, groove-focussed house music in all of its incarnations. Dipping into disco, garage, techno and more, the parties that both have overseen over the last decade have never failed to hit the spot whether in Leeds, London, Berlin or further afield, and it will be no different as they reunite in Leeds for the biggest occasion of the year.
Previous collaborations have seen Butter Side Up and Louche join for a summer party on Croatian wellbeing island Obonjan, but you’ll just have to wait and see what the guys have planned this time around. We may not know who’ll be leading the charge, but what we do know is that this’ll be a sterling way to see out 2016.
