Major Lazer will be playing at Manchester Academy on the 16th of October as part of their world tour in recognition of the new album, ‘Peace Is The Mission’, set for release this June.
First rising up the charts in 2009, Major Lazer was originally the collaboration between American and English DJ and producers Diplo and Switch, however in 2011, Switch left the group to further his solo career. Now, Diplo has employed the talents of Jillionaire and Walshey Fire to embark upon the tour with a number of guests also set to take to the stage with them.
Major Lazer’s first singles ‘Pon De Floor’ and ‘Hold The Line’ were the spearheads of the first album ‘Guns Don’t Kill People, Lazers Do’, released back in 2009 to critical acclaim. The follow up album, which didn’t land until 2013, also received great reviews and was released after Diplo had also been working with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Rita Ora and No Doubt.
The brand new album that has spawned this world tour will feature the likes of Ellie Goulding, Pusha T, Ariana Grande, Mad Cobra, Travi$ Scott and Wild Belle and will hit the shelves in June. With the first two singles ‘Lean On’ and ‘Powerful’ already receiving lots of radio play before their release its looking like there’s a lot of buzz for this new LP, meaning the anticipation of their autumn tour is at a high.
The European leg of the tour will stop at France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden before coming over to the UK on the 14th of October, before Major Lazer descend upon Manchester on the 16th.
Tickets for Major Lazer at Manchester Academy on 16th October 2015 will go on sale at 09:00am Friday 1st May.
