Last year Meghan Trainor released her debut single ‘All About That Bass’, a 1960’s doo-wop style hit that Meghan says is about self-acceptance and a calling to embrace ones inner beauty. Context aside, the tune was hugely catchy and was a hit all over the globe, charting in a huge 58 countries, as well as spending eight consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Top 200, surpassing other reigning singles by the likes of Michael Jackson. As a final upward shunt, ‘All About That Bass’ was also nominated for 2 Grammy Awards, these being Record of The Year and Song Of The Year.
The single, which is one of the best selling of all time, was taken from Trainor’s debut album ‘Title’, which was released at the beginning of the year. ‘Title’ sees Meghan Trainor collaborating with the likes of John Legend, Shy Carter and Chris Gelbuda amongst others and also contains the follow up single ‘Lips Are Movin’, which Trainor heralds as her second consecutive Top 5 single. With her US tour seeing Meghan play shows at LA’s El Rey Theatre and The House Of Blues in San Diego, Houston and Chicago amongst another 20-something dates it has been a very busy start to the year. In April, Trainor will play at Manchester’s The Ritz, Glasgow’s ABC, The Institute in Birmingham and London’s Shepard’s Bush Empire.
