After a huge birthday party last year at Canal Mills that saw an endless lineup of DJs play for their 6th anniversary, next February sees mono_cult go back to their roots with a pop up venue, limited capacity, and a soundtrack provided by the brand's long standing residents (and founders) along with some of their favourite guest DJs.
Deutsch duo, Detroit Swindle (aka Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets) head up the bill. Over the past few years the pairing have risen up the ranks quick with killer releases on the likes of Tsuba, Freerange, Dirt Crew and more recently their very own Heist Recordings – including one of the tunes of the year in The Break Up. Check out two of our favourite releases from the duo below, something old and something new.
Marquis Hawkes finishes off the lineup, and with support from the likes of DJ royalty including none other than Ben UFO, Jackmaster and Daniel Avery it's not surprising his name is beginning to prick ears. Clouded in self deployed mystery and not one to plaster himself around public domains, Marquis Hawkes brings an air of the unknown to mono_cult's celebrations. Despite this, with three well received EPs on Glasgow's Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, receiving plays from Martyn, Boddika, Optimo and more, quality and class are assured from Hawkes. Check out his Off The Cuff Mix from October of this year below if you're in any doubt.
