Revealed as the special guest headliner of NME/Radio 1 stage is arguably the author of the greatest masterpiece hip-hop has ever witnessed, Illmatic. Nas will feature at Reading on Saturday 27th August before making the trip up to Leeds to close things out on the Sunday night. The New York MC has experienced a mixed success throughout his career in which he has released 10 full length releases with his most recent attempt being 2012’s Life Is Good. Nonetheless, Nas’ arrival onto the scene in 1994 with Illmatic has cemented his position at the top of the game in hip-hop. The socially aware record is coupled with timeless production provided by heavyweights such as DJ Premier, Pete Rock and A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip, enabling the album to be regarded as one of the most complete hip-hop records to emerge from the genre’s golden era.
Further notable additions to the Reading & Leeds festival lineup include singer Songwriter Frank Turner. The England Keep My Bones singer will be making an appearance at the two festivals for the 10th year running having become a firm fan favourite over the years.
