Chilean electronic maestro Nicolas Jaar stops by Manchester this December on his latest world tour. Hosted by The Warehouse Project and Now Wave, the live show will take to Old Granada Studios Monday 5th December.
An enigmatic figure in the world of electronic music, Jaar has continually pushed the boundaries of leftfield through his impeccable yet abstract productions and live performances, turning heads within the popular sphere along the way. Since swapping the Chilean altitude for the heady heights of the New York dance scene, Nicolas Jaar has gone on to reap the rewards for his conceptual creativity, debuting his From Scratch live show in 2012 and scooping the award for Essential Mix of The Year in the same 12 months.
(Old Granada Studios has been a popular destination for Manchester's clubbing community, and should receive a big crowd again when Nicolas Jaar comes to town)
Since the release of his first full length album in 2011, Nicolas Jaar’s productions have contained a distinguishable character, creating a distinct atmosphere through lo-fi samples and warm basslines. When it comes to live performance, Jaar is an artist that goes beyond the remedial experience. Shows with Darkside alongside guitarist Dave Harrington incorporated the use of a giant circular mirror which rotated while both artists were dressed in shadow either side throughout the set.
Jaar is also the founder of Other People, the New York label that has been responsible for output from Dave Harrington along with artistic projects including spoken word and ambient releases. Recently, Other People developed its own radio station that allows listeners to explore 333 channels. With attention on artistic detail as much as the music itself, expect a wondrous sensory experience when the Chilean producer brings the latest incarnation of his live show to Manchester this December.
