If Drumcode’s Halloween wasn’t techno enough before, it definitely is now that Nicole Moudaber, Boxia and Dense & Pika have completed the lineup, with Adam Beyer looking to get as many of his friends involved as possible on Saturday 29th October. Taking over London’s Tobacco Dock, the Swedish music maestro has got giants like Alan Fitzpatrick, Pan-Pot and Marcel Fengler tied down, with regular Drumcode collaborator Ida Engberg also joining alongside some of the label’s latest starlets.
A spell-binding performer, Nicole Moudaber fits the Drumcode aesthetic perfectly, trading in forceful kicks and bruising synths as she abides by the strictest of techno principles. Often delving into nuclear meltdown stompers, Dense & Pika show a similar passion for the darker side of tech house, as perhaps best shown by the chemical-drenched sounds of their remix of Paul Woolford’s “Erotic Discourse”.
Halloween at the hands of Drumcode was always likely to be a dark affair, and with boss Adam Beyer putting his faith in newcomers Marco Faraone, Boxia, Sam Paganini and Julia Govnor it should offer a glimpse of what’s to come on future DC releases as well. Slots for fan favourites like Anja Schneider and Stacey Pullen show that it’s not all about Drumcode, however, with the two DJs no doubt eager to show that it’s not just Beyer’s label mates who hold the formula for stompy techno terrors. The scene is set for a perfectly harrowing evening.
