A few months ago, a brand new events series, No Way Back launched at Mint Warehouse, bringing disco don Dimitri From Paris and Horse Meat Disco, not to mention a huge selection of local DJs who brought a breath of fresh air to 2 rooms of Mint's Warehouse venue on Water Lane, Leeds.
Now back for round 2 on Friday 9th October, No Way Back this time take to Mint Club whilst keeping the standard high as they invite Joey Negro and Ashley Beedle to soundtrack the night.
Dave Lee has found fame amongst the dance underground and also on mainstream turf, as he has relished a number of top 40 singles that a fair few will admit to being guilty pleasures. Under his Joey Negro moniker Make A Move On Me and Do What You Feel were 2 singles amongst a long line of hits throughout the 90s and 00s, whilst the single American Dream climbed to the number 3 spot, released under the alias Jakatta. More recently, Joey Negro teamed up with No Way Back’s previous guests Horse Meat Disco to rework TS Monk’s classic Candidate For Love for World Record Store Day 2014, not to mention being Z Records’ 200th release.
No Way Back’s second guest Ashley Beedle is known for his work as a solo artist and also as part of the group X-Press 2, with whom he also had hoard of chart success in the 1990’s. Muzik Xpress and Lazy are no doubt the 2 most revered tracks in X-Press 2’s discography, which both entered the UK top 10 with the latter peaking at number 2. Beedle’s solo EPs have been released on Southern Fried and Rebirth amongst many other labels, consistently oozing funk and soul influence.
No Way Back also host an arena at Mint Festival 2015 - view the lineup and more here.
