Common People will be landing in Southampton and Oxford on May 28th for a bank holiday weekend full of music, food, drinks and laughs, with 4 stages set to explode onto Southampton Common in the heart of the city, spread over two days.
The festival will be taking over both the South Park, Oxford and Southampton Common sites which are set to feature a number of stages each including The Common, The Big Top, The Uncommon, and an array of cocktail bar sites. Headlining the affair in Southampton will be Craig David along with Scottish psychedelic purveyors Primal Skream. Support comes in the form of Pubic enemy and former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes. Headliners in Oxford consist of Sheffield new romantics Duran Duran, Katy B along with support from Soul II Soul, Jamie Lawson and many more.
The Big Top stages are where you can see the best DJs from around the country playing upfront and cutting edge drum & bass, garage, house and more. The Kurupt FM crew will be headlining on the Saturday in Southampton before trading places with Oxford headliner David Rodigan for the Sunday. The Saturday at Southampton and Sunday at Oxford will also make way for a takeover courtesy of Hospital Records, who will be represented by Camo & Krooked, London Elektricity, Fred V & Grafix, Etherwood, and MCs Fava and Wrec. My Nu Leng, Dread MC, DJ Zinc, Prince Fatty, Venom Sound and 99 Souls are also set to appear across the weekend.
Common People will also feature The Uncommon Stage, which is where the UK’s most exciting up and coming talent will present their skills. Playing on the stage at the two festivals will be Lonely The Brave, Palma Violets, Original Rabbit Foot, Pretty Vicious, Tall Ships, Sean McGowan, Kassassin Street, New Desert Blues, Science Of Eight Limbs and many more. The Bollywood cocktail bus at Southampton and The Sugar Skulls Cocktail Bar, Oxford will be serving up fruity beverages to the sounds of Denis Sulta, Deaf by Disco, Jordan Mckinlay, Ronnie Spiteri, Pete Callard and much more.
When you get a little peckish at Common People there will be plenty of street food and bars ready to quench your thirst and appetite. In addition you will be able to find kids areas, arts & crafts rooms, talks tents and even a circus.
