Although the Christmas spirit will have been fully drained and we will all be back to the grind, we are on hand to help you shake off the January blues, as there is a lot to look forward to in the New Year. Whether it is festival season being already on the horizon or standout clubbing events we think will be very special, there are a number of things we think you can be getting excited about, with our pick given a short run down here.
Wire 10th Anniversary, Leeds
Wire in Leeds will be turning 10 years old on the 29th of January, with a double event set to take place over that weekend. As one of the most consistently good places to hear an ever changing and fresh range of music, with everything from house and techno to roots dub getting a go in, this celebration will be a standout event for the majority of Leeds clubbing population. The first of the two parties will see a back to back between three selectors the club hold close to their hearts, with support from Butter Side Up resident Hamish Cole. Part two will take place the following day and will see drum & bass proprietors Overflow and Central Beatz welcoming a special guest alongside their own selection of residents.
Ants at The Albert Hall, Manchester
Andrea Oliva’s Ants parties have been staple on the party plans of many Ibiza regulars for the past few years, having held home at Ushuaia since 2013. The brand has never ventured outside the Balearics however, therefore this party at Manchester’s Albert Hall is highly anticipated amongst those who have visited its dance floor overseas, not least for the all star line up consisting of Maya Jane Coles, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler and Andrea Oliva himself.
Jamz, Leeds & Manchester
As one of the most exciting parties in Leeds to have surfaced over the past year, grime and bass music kingpins Jamz have had a great year and will be aiming higher over the next 12 months with a collection of parties already announced in both Leeds and Manchester. As with their recent shindigs, the focal point of their Leeds series will be Wire; whilst in Manchester Soup Kitchen will be holding a regular knees up. With guests selected from their label roster (Butterz) and residents Elijah & Skilliam always on hand to do the duties, their success will no doubt see evolution in their party plans with big things to come.
The Winter Social, Maidstone
The Winter Social will be moving just down the road this year to a new venue in the Museum of Kent Life, where a star studded bill of house and techno’s greatest selectors will play across 2 stages. The full line up is far from being completed, however the list already includes the likes of Circo Loco residents Davide Squillace and Matthias Tanzmann, not to mention Dusky, Hot Since 82, Maya Jane Coles, Nick Curly, Patrick Topping, Rob Cockerton, Tristan Ingram and of course the Fanciulli brothers Nic and Mark.
It may be a few months away, but Parklife festival is always a highlight of the year for any dance music fan, with this year’s instalment proving no different. With the weekend of June 11th announced at this year’s date, it wont be long before tickets are sold out and the huge line up is revealed. Right now it’s time to register online for access to early bird tickets and Parklife membership that will get you access to lots of juicy extras when the ticket release is upon us.
Cocoon In The Park, Leeds
Another standout party of every year is Cocoon In The Park In Leeds, which will be taking place in 2016 on June 9th. Once again, we have only been treated to the date and an early ticket release for everyone who holds this party close to their heart, however there is no doubt this years get together at Temple Newsam will be just as good as always, with past guests in Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Cassy, Luciano and Craig Richards assuring us that a high quality selection of DJs will be on hand for 3 hour sets all day long.
