As another year comes around for Leeds and Reading Festival, as do the classic rumours of who will take to the famous main stages of both festivals.
Year after year brings the staple rumour that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will make their return to the two festivals for the first time since 2007. With those rumours leading to nothing for the best part of a decade, fans of the American alternative rock outfit can rejoice as the Reading & Leeds Festival are pleased to announce that the band will be returning to the festival for the first time in 9 years to take to the main stage.
With news that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are working on their 11st studio album, Flea and co will be off on tour through 2016 playing a number of dates around the US and Europe which will eventually see them appear at both the Reading & Leeds festivals. The band will be touring with their newest lineup which has seen long serving guitarist John Frusciante replaced by Josh Klinghoffer.
Also joining the Chilis will be Manchester indie band The Courteeners who are fresh off the back off of playing probably the biggest show of their career to a sell out crowd at Manchester’s Heaton Park over the summer. To add to that UKG royalty DJ EZ has also been confirmed and will be one of the biggest attractions at the two festivals.
