Reykjavik’s Laugardalur will be alive with music once again for three days running as Secret Solstice takes over the international sports complex for 72 hours of sun from the 19th of June.
Taking place just outside Iceland’s picturesque capital city, Secret Solstice is a unique three-day music festival that coincides with the summer solstice, which, because of the festivals location, results in 72 hours of sunlight throughout the country. That’s right, the sun doesn’t set for three days, and to make it even more exciting, the sound track will be provided by some of the most exciting live artists, bands and DJs of today, with the mighty Wu Tang Clan set to headline the bill.
Secret Solstice’s music programme for 2015 compromises a number of internationally renowned DJs that include Skream, Zero 7, Tale Of Us, Moodymann, Miss Kittin, TEED, Green Velvet, Nick Curly, Guti, Javi Bora, Daniel Avery and Heidi amongst many others, who will play in Laugardalur’s ice rink structure, which seals out the light providing cool, visually stunning night time-like showcases.
There has also been a huge development in the live music on offer at the festival for 2015 with Wu Tang Clan, The Wailers, FKA Twigs, Kelis, Charles Bradley, GusGus, Submotion Orchestra, Nightmares On Wax, Hjalmar amongst others all on the bill.
There is also an extensive selection of local Icelandic talent including Helgi Björnsson, Samaris, Hermigervill, DJ Flugvél Og Geiskip, Intro Beats and many more.
Other amenities include an endless number of art installations, giant Viking structures and boutique food stalls, with the Icelandic Lamb Soup being something that has to be sampled.
