After the closure of The Garage, Leeds based promoters Set One Twenty were left without a home and after a very short interlude at The Faversham have found their feet at Leeds infamous Mint Club. Their first few parties at the venue last year featured a variety of DJs, most notably in our opinion Kyle Hall – and they stick with the Detroit angle for their first party of 2014 at Mint Club with none other than Motor City stalwart Alex Smith, Omar S.
Whether he's paying tribute to the smoother side of Chicago house and Detroit Motown or the heavier famous analogue sounds of early Detroit techno, Omar S oozes style and class.
Releasing almost exclusively on his own FXHE imprint, known for it's limited edition white label pressings, his releases have become sought after gold dust – only adding to the mystery that sounds the man. Although a true veteran of his legendary birth place, many would suggest his music and name have not surface enough over the years – although this is probably exactly how he likes it.
Last year marked Omar's fourth album release – Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself – somewhat of a follow up to his aptly named 2011 long player, It Can be Done But Only I Can Do It. Check out the title track below as well an incredible mix offering for the Boiler Room crew last year.
Set One Twenty with Omar S tickets are now on sale. As expected, Early Bird Tickets sold out for this event almost immediately. General release tickets are on sale now, buy now to avoid missing out.
