Soundcrash is the musical imprint that has just announced a number of shows to be taking place throughout the coming months, with the KOKO showing being amongst a number of other club nights at The Roundhouse, Village Underground and a number of festivals both in and outside of the UK including Citadel in Victoria Park and Soundwave over at The Garden Tisno in Croatia. This special show at one of London’s most popular theatre music venues will see a ripe selection of Sound System music played by one of the most influential names in the scene, not to mention a further 4 cutting edge DJs who have proved themselves as some of the most innovative of today.
Congo Natty (pictured below), also known as Rebel Project, X Project and Conquering Lion, is the original jungle DJ who jumped into the world of sound systems aged 20, when he and his friends made their own system, Beat Freak. Fast forward a few years and Congo Natty had started his label X Project, which fronted some of the first jungle releases that took the bass of roots reggae and reinvented it. Congo Natty’s powerful feelings toward jungle as the soul and journey of slaves has led him to become one of the most notorious DJs in the genre, with his vinyl DJ sets compromising classic jungle tracks with those of the present and future. Congo Natty will be joined on stage by Congo Dubz, Nanci and Phoebe who will be on mic duties whist Natty does his thing behind the turntables.
Congo Natty will be appearing alongside a number of other innovative names, the first two being Sherwood and Pinch. Pinch is the dubstep pioneer from Bristol, whose Tectonic label has released cutting edge music from he likes of Mumdance, Roska, 2562, Jakes, Guido and more, with their Tectonic Plates compilations being some of the genres most impressive. Another dub legend in Adrian Sherwood will be going back to back with Pinch in a massive collaboration that will bring some serious heat. Also joining them will be DJ Krust (pictured above), a true pioneer of the drum & bass movement, as well as OM Unit, one of Metalheadz’ staple artists.
