Temple Newsam has been holding the annual techno festival Cocoon In The Park since 2009, with the 8th event set to take place on Saturday the 9th of July. As always, the line up announcement is an anticipated moment in the running up to the party, with the bill having just been announced online.
The number of DJs and music policy at Cocoon In The Park has been changing over the past few years, with the original ethos of four guest DJs playing extended sets now swaying towards musical diversity and a longer line up, meaning shorter sets. With a total of 7 DJs on the line up this year, choices this year sway from the Cocoon roster in favour of festival debuts for DJs who regularly play in the city centre. Each DJ is world renowned in their own right, so seven on one line up sees the most ambitious bill since CITP’s inception.
Label spearhead Sven Väth will be making a welcome return to Leeds for Cocoon In The Park 2016, as he has played every year since the festivals inception. After all, what is Cocoon without Sven? Having played for 4 hours each year prior to this, we hope to see him playing his signature sunset performance to finish off the evening, travelling from house to heart racing techno that he is has been akin to during a DJ career that spans over 30 years.
Perhaps the most exciting artist to be appearing at Cocoon In The Park this year is Green Velvet. Known also as Cajmere, his more house-associated alias, Green Velvet is a veteran in the dance music scene and has been described as a highlight at Cocoon Ibiza residency that takes to Amnesia Ibiza every year. Circo Loco residents The Martinez Brothers have also been announced, who will no doubt churn out some fast paced tech house whilst efficiently hopping from turntables.
Next on the bill is Eats Everything, the DJ who has brought Bristol’s bass scene and house music much closer together with his bouncy rhythm. Hot Creations staple Patrick Topping comes in as number five and no surprises as Enzo Siragusa returns once again, this time playing back to back with Rossko.
