System is back in December, and they have invited one of their long time favourites back to Mint Club. Returning to Leeds will be Dyed Soundorom, Shonky and Dan Ghenacia, who together are Apollonia.
This year has been a whirlwind for the Parisian trio, who not only had a busy schedule in Ibiza that included an all night long showcase at DC-10, but they also announced the release of their debut album Tour à Tour. This inaugural LP, which hit the shelves last month, is a wonderful conception of the vibe and attitude that their music encapsulates. Starting with a melodic soundscape and trudging through low-slung grooves and bouncy drums, Tour à Tour offers a perfect balance of chilled out beats and club ready fillers, with Sona and Un Vrai Portugais standing out as our highlights.
Aside from their own 13-track album, Dan, Shonky and Dyed have also been working hard fronting the release of many EPs both by themselves and other esteemed artists. These include the recent, absolutely smashing More 4 EP by Premiesku on their own imprint, as well as Bootshonk 02 and Jovonn’s The EP. As if this wasn’t enough, they also recorded an episode for BBC Radio 1’s revered Essential Mix series, which was aired just a few weeks ago.
Now, in celebration of the release of Tour à Tour, the three have now embarked on a world tour that is visiting a huge 50 venues from back in October all the way to March. The tour has already stopped by a plethora of respectable American clubs like Output, New York and Exchange, LA, only to be travelling the length and breadth of Europe during the course of the next 3 months, calling at Panorama Bar, Robert Johnson, Fabric, The Arches and many more.
Anyone will attest to the fact that when these guys play Leeds you are guaranteed to leave with a huge grin on your face. Expect to be warmed up efficiently before receiving an aural awakening of snares… and bass, not forgetting the delight in seeing three DJs having just as much fun as every last person in the crowd. Of course, it would not be System without residents Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell providing the soundtrack early doors.
Tickets on sale now.
