8 Years have now passed since System began throwing parties in the depths of a Leeds public house, where the likes of Slam and Jamie Anderson regularly tore it up to an intimate crowd of music lovers, which saw the evolution of Leeds’ most revered underground party of the past decade.
Over the years a who’s who of house and techno has played at System, with the past year alone welcoming the likes of Nicholas Lutz, Rhadoo, Steve O’Sullivan and Sonja Moonear amongst many others. As well as the star studded list of guests, Systems lifelong residents Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell have become two of Leeds’ most sought after resident selectors as their dexterous performances at the club have put the party on the map for being just as consistent as they are agile.
On February 13th System will be celebrating 8 years of parties with a knees up at their spiritual home of Mint Club. Joining them for this celebratory occasion will be a guest who wowed when he first performed at System this year as well as a second guest who has appeared regularly over the past few years and also who’s appeared at the birthday for the past 3. These two are Mr G and Enzo Siragusa.
Mr G saw his first appearance at System during May’s bank holiday terrace party, with his huge live performance wowing everyone in the audience, not least for his interaction with the crowd proved nearly as exciting as his music. Mr G’s tough house and techno crossovers have been staple in the record bags of many DJs for years, as just one of his loop and sample based grooves does serious damage on the dance floor. Put a full set of his providings together through a full live performance, 909 and all, and you have something quite spectacular.
Enzo Siragusa has played at System’s birthday for the past 3 years, so those who hold the party as one of their favourites will have a good idea of what to expect. The Fuse frontman and his signature sound have become somewhat commonplace at System’s parties over the past few years, with this years performance seeing more of the same bass and drum led groove, for an extended amount of time.
It wouldn’t be System without Bobby O’Donnell and Annie Errez on hand to do what they do best, with themselves and of course Mint Club’s rainbow ceiling being the staple ingredients for another memorable night at System and the ushering in of another year of great parties.
