Leeds based promoters, System have become somewhat of a stalwart of the northern underground clubbing scene bringing a wealth of house and techno talent to the city. The list of guests is a seemingly endless who’s who of the underground, littered with multiple truly legendary names.
Saturday 8th February sees System celebrate their 6th birthday, with a suitably impressive lineup. Heading up the bill, they welcome back Martin Buttrich for his second appearance at their birthday events (having featured at their 3rd birthday alongside Frank Lorber and SIS). Known for his fluency, the producer will be aiming his delicate yet effervescent touch to what is looking like a sell-out crowd at Mint Club. It’s no coincidence that our Spanish compadre has put out music on some of the most influential labels over the years such as Desolat, Cocoon and Planet E. Stamping his thumbprint on the many volumes of electronic music, Martin has a fascination for music in all shapes and sizes and he portrays that mindset during his sets. His records are stripped-to-the-bone and seemingly void of emotion but they can’t help ooze it anyway – one of the many thing that makes Martin such a diverse producer. It’s a true rarity to see a musician that overlaps many genre borders. Check out Martin’s latest release Monkey Troopers – out now his Earth Of Foxes EP on Supplement Facts below ahead of his much anticipated live set at the System 6th Birthday.
Second headliner, Rhadoo is ensured to bring plenty of straight talking, no nonsense minimal. The sound that Rhadoo is one which has certainly been around for some time, but the Romanian’s ability to outlive the heyday of his genre to continue his relevance within electronic music is what makes him so special. Supported by his invitation to mix the 72nd edition in Fabric’s mix series last November. A real thinker, whose reputation as a DJ is a strong as any, expect the best.
Final guests, Enzo Siragusa is currently taking a month off from music but comes back to his first show at the System 6th Birthday. Packing an onslaught of minimal/tech house, Siragusa knows how to manipulate a crowd. Ebbing and flowing is of the order during one of his sets; the man doesn’t stick to crowd pleasers but uses his in depth knowledge to move his audience, a trait that more DJ’s coming out of the recent ‘house-boom- should learn to adhere to.
Jack Wickham, Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell make up the rest of the lineup in what is looking like a special birthday celebrations for the System cohort.
Since the lineup release, tickets have flown out for this event. System 6th Birthday tickets are now onto their final release and will sell out in advance of the night. If you intend of attending the System 6th Birthday, buy your tickets now to avoid missing out.
