From living in the depths of a public house in Halton Moor, where the likes of Slam were invited to play to small crowds of music lovers, to now residing in one of the most internationally revered night clubs, which now sees world class guests play on a weekly basis, System has grown simultaneously with Mint Club, the hedonistic heaven where hundreds religiously spend their Saturday nights on the first Saturday of every month. Not only home to one of the highest quality clubbing events in the city, Mint Club is also amongst the most elite and respected nightspots in the world, thanks to unrivalled lighting and sound, together with the hard working DJs and promoters at System and the clubs many other regular events.
On February the 6th, System turns 7 and in traditional fashion the birthday brings with it a trio of special guests who will play alongside the System residents, Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell. This year will no doubt be another whirlwind of impressive events at Mint Club and Mint Warehouse, but we cannot get through any of these without celebrating the annual milestone that always delivers one of the best nights out of the year. The triple headliner will be spearheaded by Sonja Moonear, the Swiss female who is regularly seen playing in her cool demeanour alongside DJing giants like [a:rpia:r] and Ricardo Villalobos. With a host of releases on some of the world’s best record labels that include Perlon and Karat Records, together with Sonja’s own imprint Rutu5; Moonear will definitely put in a performance to remember.
Joining Sonja will be one of the hottest live acts that can be seen today, Paranoid London. System traditionally include a live guest in their birthday line-ups and this one is a doozy. With a debut LP having just hit the shelves, Paranoid London have fabricated a long line of minimalistic acid house tracks with a rough feel that have been championed across the clubbing underground, not only by Systems own Annie Errez who is a big fan herself. ‘Paris Dub 1’ and ‘Eating Glue’ are just a couple of the sides that have come out on Paranoid London’s own running of limited press vinyl.
The final guest is Rossko, who recently warmed up when System brought London house heads Fuse to Mint Club only a few months ago in October. Warming up will be Annie and Bobby who, after playing to System’s no nonsense crowd for a number of years, have perfected bringing the dancefloor to the boil.
