After their jam packed birthday party with Motor City Drum Ensemble last month, Butter Side Up are bringing even more top drawer talent to Wire for November, as we prepare to be treated to the sounds of Panorama Bar resident and Ostgut regular Tama Sumo.
Donning a progressive style of playing that can elevate from house and disco classics to an all out techno assault, Tama Sumo is one of the most revered figures in the collection of German selectors who frequent the infamous Berghain/Panorama Bar on an almost monthly basis. DJing since 1993, she has played at almost every (if not every) reputable party that asserts itself with the highest quality underground dance music. With a constantly extensive touring schedule visiting so many countries, her performances are not entirely common from one city to the next; so it’s very exciting think of her upcoming appearance at the intimate Wire club in Leeds.
As well as being a highly respected DJ, Tama has also racked up a consistent series of releases that see many EPs signed to her residential label Ostgut Ton, as well as Diamonds & Pearls amongst others. These less regular yet no lesser impressive EPs include the singles Flow Figure, Brothers, Sisters and her addition to the Panorama Bar Mix series, of which Tama compiled number 2.
Tickets for Butter Side Up with Tama Sumo (Friday 14th November) at Wire Leeds are on sale now.
