In celebration of their new album that is set to hit the shelves on the 26th of January, English indie rock four-piece The Charlatans will be embarking on a UK tour throughout March that will be calling at some of the most iconic music venues in Britain including Leeds' O2 Academy on Saturday 7th March. Tickets on sale now.
Tim Burgess, Mark Collins, Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers, together are The Charlatans, who first made waves when they released their first singles back in the early 90’s. Singles like ‘Indian Rope’ became underground favourites whilst ‘The Only One I Know’ became a revered Top 10 hit in the UK. Throughout the bands lifetime they have released 11 studio albums, none of which have failed to make a mark on the UK Album Chart, 3 of them made it to the top spot. The album ‘Tellin’ Stories’ saw The Charlatans attain their 2 highest single chart positions with ‘One To Another’ and ‘North Country Boy’ climbing to numbers 3 and 4 on the Top 10.
The Charlatans newest LP, ‘Modern Nature’ is an 11-track effort that is being released on a variety of formats including a very attractive coloured vinyl. With singed copies, bonus tracks and a limited 7” available throughout a number of album packages, they’re keeping things ultimately fresh and interesting, sustaining the longevity of the physical format. The albums first 2 singles ‘So Oh’ (listen below) and ‘Talking In Tones’ have already been released, and with the other tracks on the album, the complete package will be honouring the bands late drummer Jon Brookes, who tragically died following a battle with cancer last year. The first single we heard from the album features The Charlatan’s distinctive organ backdrop, with drums played by Pete Salisbury of The Verve.
The Charlatans will stop off at O2 Academy in Leeds on 7th March 2015. Tickets on sale now.
