English post-punk band The Fall return to their home of Manchester April 19th, taking to the O2 Ritz as a part of their tour which sees the band play 4 consecutive dates at The Garage, London. An ever-changing lineup of which lead singer Mark E. Smith is the only permanent fixture, The Fall’s sound has transformed through the years, but centres around Smith’s punk delivery and abstract poetry, usually combined with thrashing indie-pop guitars and steady rhythms. A favourite band of the legendary radio DJ John Peel, they have retained the devotion of a cult following throughout various incarnations.
An influence upon a succession of bands including LCD Soundsystem, Arctic Monkeys, Pavement and many many others, The Fall have left a legacy which has inspired some of the best guitar music to come from the UK and further afield in recent years. First established forty years ago, the band is still going strong, and will take to the stage at The Garage for four special dates at the end of next month. Tickets on sale now.
