After a decade of events that have seen the likes of Zip, Lindstrøm, Matthias Tanzmann, Dyed Soundorom, Dixon, Matthew Dear and Omar S take to The Faversham in Leeds’ buzzing student empire, the organisers have unveiled the line up that will de ushering in the next decade in jaw dropping style.
Going even further than their usual, already highly appraisable day and night time party, The Tetley, which is just a minutes walk from the very centre of the city, will be playing host to line up of no less than 30 guest DJs and a boat load of world class live artists spread over two days, who will perform amongst a rally of gastronomic and artistic delicacies on show all day and evening long, with stall by Fish&, Röla Wala, Boozy Q BBQ, Pizza Fella, Mad Ferret and Leeds Indie Food Festival.
In a feat that will have been unexpected by the majority of Garden Party regulars, the organisers have teamed up with a number of other promoters to stage a number of very exciting live artists. Heading up this selection will be electronic dame Rósín Murphy (pictured above), the emphatic hip-hop extraordinaire Mos Def, Swedish four-piece Little Dragon, disco king Todd Terje and roots reggae singer Ady Suileman. Live performances will also be able to be caught by Fatima and The Eglo Records Band, Romare and Mr Scruff.
Headlining the DJ programme will be further hip-hop extravagance from Grandmaster Flash as well as the second half of the Innervisions duo Âme, after Dixon topped the bill during The Faversham’s May Bank Holiday instalment. Innversions is a label close to The Garden Parties heart, and the cities as a matter of fact, as these guys regularly play all over town, with their performances usually being the highlight for many guests. The Jackathon’s Heidi will also be appearing as well as another pair of Garden Party Favourites in John Talabot and Joy Orbison, with Julio Bashmore also providing further weight.
This line up is still far from over as the legendary deep house pioneer Kerri Chandler will also be making an appearance, a DJ who is a pleasure to watch, who is also known to sneak in some impressive trickery here and there that has on a few occasions included playing with his shoes. Warehouse Project regulars Krysko & Greg Lord and The Monocult DJs will keep the northern spirit alive, whilst the stars keeping on rolling in the form of Patrick Topping and Paul Woolford, who have both enjoyed chart success with their singles Forget and Untitled over the past couple of years. The weekend will also see performances from PBR Streetgang, People Get Real, Redlight, B.Traits, Craig Charles, Shadow Child, Chris Lorenzo, Preditah and The Crazy P Soundsystem, along with a load of local favourites representing brands from all over the city and further afar.
