The Great Escape will once again be providing the seaside summer soundtrack for Brighton as it takes over the city’s music establishments from 19th-21st May. The talents of Stormzy, The Mystery Jets, Eagulls, Oh Wonder to name a few have been enlisted with the final few acts just announced containing an Australian tripple whammy.
Joining the bill as joint headliners of the festival closing party will be indie dance outfit Jagwar Ma. The dreamy stylings of the Australian three piece will be contrasted by their fellow compatriots DMA’s who will also be appearing at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange closing shin dig. DMA’s have caused quite a stir since stepping onto the European scene with the Brit pop influences heavily noticeable across their 2 studio albums. Be prepared to wrap an arm around the shoulders of the nearest stranger and bask in the glory of DMA’s 90s indie hedonism when they take to the stage.
This year’s secret set at The Great Escape is no longer quite so secret, as it has been revealed that The Temper Trap will be making a return to the south coast to preside over the intimate show. The Sydney four piece will no doubt be swooning the lucky few who manage to make their way into the show with their palpitating inducing sounds they have come to perfect.
If you aren’t completely worn out from completing your very own Brighton half marathon journeying from venue to venue, then you can use up that last bit of energy throwing some shapes at Patterns Brighton on eve of Friday and Saturday. The awesome pairing of Max Graef and Glen Astro will be unleashing the full force of their record bag on the Friday night before Kiwi, Pional and Red Axes will be in charge on selections on the Saturday.
