On December 22nd 2012, Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse (home to the infamous Warehouse Project) shall play host to a special one off event with Manchester’s most iconic band, The Happy Mondays.
The Mondays defined an era, becoming synonymous with the late 80s and early 90s scene in Manchester. The debut album ‘Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out)’, produced by Velvet Underground’s John Cale saw them explode onto the scene before following it up with their second album ‘Bummed’ and their huge number 1 album, ‘Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches’.
Recent tours and gigs from the band have re-sparked the country’s love for the mischievous six piece and a recent announcement revealing plans for a new album (the first the original line-up will have recorded since 1992!) has seen them thrown right back into the lime light.
Music has always been at the heart of Manchester and as regulars at the legendary Hacienda nightclub, before its closure, it’s only right that The Happy Mondays are back in Manchester to play at the city’s most respected electronic and live music venue again, Victoria Warehouse.
