Islington will be entertaining trumpets, horns and trombones on Tuesday the 10th of November as The Hot 8 Brass Band play at The Garage on Holloway Road.
Based In New Orleans, Louisiana, The Hot 8 Brass Band formed in 1995 by founding members Bennie Pete, Jerome Jones and Harry Cook, who were all involved in other bands prior to them coming together as one. The band has been making waves in the UK after being the first US artist signed to Tru Thoughts, one of the most forward thinking independent labels in Britain. Having won Gilles Peterson’s coveted Label Of The Year Award amongst a number of other accolades they are a great front to put out the music of this unique group of musicians.
As regular guests at many of America’s most esteemed jazz festivals, The Hot 8 Brass Band have grown to world acclaim, having now toured in Italy, France, Spain, Finland and even Japan, not to mention England where they have played on numerous occasions up and down the country.
Mixing hip-hop and R&B with traditional marching music at a perfect balance, The Hot 8 Brass Band is far from your average band. With 2 studio albums bursting with flair and character, The Hot 8 Brass Band will be sure to thoroughly entertain when they play at The Garage in Highbury on Tuesday 10th November.
