To celebrate the news that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are making their first appearance at Reading and Leeds Fest for the first time in 9 years, we run through some of our favourite RHCP tracks to help you get that little bit more exited for next August.
An obvious one we know, but how can you let a lyric like “space may be the final frontier but it’s made in a Hollywood basement” go without appreciation. Not a bad music video either….
Grand Pappy Du Plenty
Going all the way back to 1984 and the Chilis first album for this one. The instrumental track is somewhat a little less radio friendly than some of their other records however the beautiful guitar tone and bass lines should should not go un-noticed. Who knows, this may get a whirl whilst on the Reading and Leeds stage next summer.
Give it Away
Easily one of the funkiest RHCP tracks and definitely not a music video that leaves the memory quickly. A quintessential Chilis classic, be sure for it to go off at Reading and Leeds as Flea unleashes that distinctive bass over this one.
The Zephyr Song
Fast forward to the noughties and the RHCP’s sound has moved on slightly, nonetheless still contains that bass and signature guitar licks. Tune.
Sit back and relax...
