With a 40 strong cast from the prestigious National Youth Music Theatre and an exceptional orchestra of 35 of the UK's most talented young musicians, Jerome Robbins' West Side Story re-conception of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet will be presented to the Manchester public this coming August in the fitting venue of the city's Victoria Warehouse (see images below).
As director, Nikolai Foster puts it...
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a new production of arguably one of the most significant and greatest musicals of all time. West Side Story represents the very best in music and dance storytelling, as relevant today as when it first exploded onto Broadway in the 1950s. The mighty Victoria Warehouse is an exceptional space - epic and uncompromising. It is here we shall create a piece of work contemporary in tone, ambitious in scale, immersive, truly explosive and unashamedly theatrical."
The evening shows will run from Wednesday 21st August through to Saturday 24th August, with two matinee performances taking place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th. Tickets are available for all performances below and as a special introductory offer, concessions tickets now include all persons under 26.
