Roald Dahl himself would no doubt have been delighted to see one of his classics at the superb Cambridge Theatre, and that’s a privilege you’ll have should you acquire a Matilda the Musical ticket. The longest running show in the theatre’s illustrious history, Matilda has all the charm of the 1988 novel and its silver screen sibling. The Earlham Street corner venue opened on 4th September 1930 after being designed for Bertie Meyer, and the clean German-style steel and concrete exterior makes it a bold sight among the more embellished theatres that surround it. Greeted upon entrance by bronze friezes displaying proud naked figures in all their glory, you won’t take long to realise that this theatre’s a little different to its peers, and you wouldn’t want it any other way. A surefire good time lies in wait at Cambridge Theatre London.
