The Arch has been a staple part of the clubbing scene in Brighton for the last three decades. After starting out as storage for local fishermen the unique space, situated on Kings Road, was transformed into a nightclub. Overlooking the seafront, the club has been continually renovated, with more arches opened each time allowing for a bar to be added as well as a balcony.
After starting out as the South Coast’s mecca for acid house and techno there has since been a relaxation of the club’s music policy, encompassing all kinds of other styles such as trip hop and trance.
At the beginning there was only a small amount of space to provide the kind of haven for dance music Brighton has always craved. Now there are two authentic rooms, each complete with thunderous sound systems which are identical to the ones in Space Ibiza. Reflecting how much the venue has diversified there is also a stage for live performances.
